Pre-prepared Foods to Avoid

The food industry would have you believe that natural fats like butter, lard, whole milk, etc. are bad for you.  There's been a very large fortune spent in trying to make us believe that manufactured oils are better for us.

This campaign has been hugely successful as evidenced by the fact that soybean oil was virtually non-existant in early 1900.  Sales topped over 70 million tons this year and appears in over 90% of our packaged foods.

The incidence of heart disease and obesity have also gone up proportionately since manufactured oils have been foisted on us.

This is a very, very small, random sampling of some of the packaged foods found on a grocery shelf near our home.

Food companies are trying to outwit the savvy buyers by calling this substance "Vegetable Oil Shortening".  Sounds impressive doesn't it?
